I received an unexpected call from my daughter's high school counselor. When I returned home that evening I asked her what she thought her counselor wanted to talk to me about. It was then that my daughter Amy gently sat me down at the kitchen table and told me she was pregnant. I was both shocked and stunned, but I wasn't angry. I knew at this difficult time in her life she didn't need someone to be angry with her. Amy decided that she couldn't offer the baby the quality of life that she truly wanted for her, so she started to consider adoption. My 23 year old daughter, Jenny, already had two small sons when she got pregnant for the third time. I am helping her raise them, and I love them so much, but I knew we couldn't financially, emotionally, or physically handle another one.
